The Written Word is a literary magazine designed to promote the new and establish writer, primarily those living in the Midwest. The Written Word invites all writers to submit their finest literary works for publication. The Written Word accepts both fiction and nonfiction works.

Fiction:
Short stories and novel excerpts.
Send complete manuscripts. Pays up to $300.00 upon publication.

Poetry:
Submit maximum of 6 poems. Pays up to $75.00 upon publication.

Nonfiction:
Book excerpts, literary/personal essays, interview/profile, and book reviews. Pays up to $250.00 upon publication.

All submissions must include author's name and address on each submission (multiple submissions are allowed) and on every page of each submission. Only those manuscripts with SASE will be returned.
