FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New Portable Green Roof System
To Be Studied At
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
St. Louis, MO--June 2, 2006-- Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE)
recently began research on a new modular green roof system. The
study on the roof greening system known as Green Paks began
on May 26 and will be evaluated over a 2 year period. The study
is being overseen by Dr. Bill Retzlaff, Associate Professor of
the Environmental Sciences Program at SIUE.
Green Paks are portable knitted polyethylene
green roof modules, pre-filled with lightweight engineered soil.
The flexible modules provide a fast an affordable method of installing
a green roof. While popular in Europe, green roofs have recently
grown in popularity in the United States. Green Roofs offer buildings
and homes several benefits, including reducing energy costs,
limiting storm water run off, and increasing the life of the
roof by up to four times.
Dr. Retzlaff will be assisted by Environmental
Science and Biology students over the course of the research
program which will study the differences in planting mediums,
densities and species, and their effect on Green Paks perfor-
mance. In addition, the product will be tested for storm water
holding capacity, the rate of water loss back into the atmosphere
(evaporation), and the shade tolerance of the various plant species.
Green Paks are manufactured by Green Roof
Blocks, makers of portable green roof systems. "We
have conducted extensive research and development in bringing
Green Paks to market. We're thrilled have an unbiased third party
like SIUE conduct an independent evaluation," says Kelly
Luckett, president of Green Roof Blocks. "We're confident
that their data will support our own conclusions that Green Paks
provide all of the same environmental benefits with performance
characteristics comparable to the more expensive green roof options
on the market."

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Green Roof Blocks Introduces
Its Newest Product,
Green Paks At The Greening In The Heartland Conference.
St. Louis, MO--May 22, 2006-- Green Roof Blocks, makers of portable green
roof systems, recently introduced its newest product, Green Paks
at The Greening In The Heartland Conference, held in Kansas City,
Missouri on May, 17th at The Hyatt Regency Hotel.
Green Roof systems are widely popular in
Europe and have recently grown in popularity in the United States.
Green Roofs offer commercial buildings several benefits, including
reducing energy costs, limiting storm water run off, and increasing
the life of the roof by up to four times.
While typical green roof systems can be
expensive, Green Paks are designed to offer an affordable option.
Green Paks are portable knitted polyethylene green roof modules,
pre-filled with lightweight engineered soil. The flexible modules
cover 5.2 square feet of roof area. Green Paks shield the roof
from harmful ultra violet ray exposure and thus reduce building
energy consumption and costs, decrease storm water runoff, and
provide environmental benefits. In addition, while a roof can
wear from freezing and thawing, Green Paks keep the roof at a
steady even temperature preserving the life of the roof.
The Greening the Heartland conference was
billed as "the premier annual conference on green building
and sustainability in the Midwest" and spotlighted Building
Green developments designed by companies in the Midwest including,
Missouri, Minnesota, Michigan, North Dakota, South Dakota, Ohio,
Indiana, Kentucky, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa,
Illinois, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.
" In the coming years I believe that
we are going to see a tremendous boom in building green in the
U.S.," says Kelly Luckett, President of Green Roof Blocks.
"We believe that Green Paks and Green Roof Blocks provide
an effective method for companies to achieve all of the benefits
of building green, without the typical high costs."

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Green Roof Blocks To
Co-Host Green Roof Symposium at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville
.
St. Louis, MO--April 28, 2006-- Green Roof Blocks, makers of portable green
roof systems, will be co-hosting a Green Roof Symposium at Southern
Illinois University-Edwardsville (SIUE) on Friday, June 30, 2006.
The all day event will feature regional and national speakers
who will present case studies, local research, policies, and
design/specification information.
Kelly Luckett, president of Green Roof
Blocks will be presenting information on the benefits of modular
green roof systems. Green Roof Blocks manufactures such systems,
which are self-contained portable units that cover 4 to 5.2 square
feet of roof surface and contain a growth medium with drought
resistant plants. The modular vegetated roof covers help to reduce
energy consumption and costs, decrease storm water runoff, preserve
the life of roof materials, while also providing environmental
benefits.
In addition to Green Roof Blocks, the company
recently introduced its newest modular green roof system, Green
Paks. Green Paks are portable knitted polyethylene green
roof modules, pre-filled with lightweight engineered soil. The
flexible modules cover 5.2 square feet of roof area.
"Typical green roof systems require
expensive water proofing, drainage systems and an excessive amount
of soil," says Luckett. " Modular green roof systems
such as Green Roof Blocks and Green Paks are completely self
contained and mobile. Anyone can install our green roof systems
and there is very little maintenance."
Registration information for the symposium
is available on the SIUE website ( http://www.green-siue.com/pages/7/index.htm
). For more information individuals are asked to contact Dr.
Susan Morgan, P.E., at smorgan@siue.edu or 618-650-5014.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Environmental Friendly "Green
Roof" Is Installed As Part Of The Rejuvenation Of The Downtown
St. Louis Riverfront.
St. Louis, MO--January 30, 2006-- Green Roof Blocks', makers of portable green
roof systems, recently installed its self contained green roof
product on a Laclede's Landing property located at 21 O'Fallon
Street. The green roof is part of the downtown St. Louis riverfront
redevelopment and rejuvenation program.
Green Roofs are vegetated roof covers that
help to reduce energy consumption and costs, decrease storm water
runoff, preserve the life of roof materials, while also providing
environmental benefits. The Green Roof Blocks' system involves
self-contained portable units that cover four square feet of
roof surface and contain a growth medium with drought resistant
plants.
On January 24, a green roof comprised of
230 Green Roof Blocks units was installed in two and a
half hours on the roof of the Laclede's Landing property. The
Green Roof garden will include an observation deck overlooking
the Mississippi River. The Green Roof Blocks will also
reduce heating and cooling costs for the building's interior,
and keep the rooftop cool for visitors during summer months by
replacing the black rooftop area with a lush rooftop garden.
The property is under renovation and is being fully restored
using environmental friendly construction methods as outline
by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).
The individual Green Roof Blocks
designed for the project utilized plant species durable enough
to sustain both St. Louis' dry summer conditions and typically
harsh winter temperatures. The units were planted off site in
mid October by Jost Greenhouse of Des Peres, allowing for several
months of growth prior to being installed. The Green Roof Blocks
were loaded onto the roof using a shingle conveyor truck provided
by Roofers Mart of St. Louis.
Green Roof Blocks are currently being
utilized by several projects in the downtown St. Louis area,
as well as Nationwide and most recently Beijing, China.
"The green roof concept has the potential
to replace much of the green space sacrificed during city construction,"
says Kelly Luckett, president of Green Roof Blocks. "This
will result in significant reductions in storm water runoff,
cooler city temperatures, less smog, and cleaner air."
